Judy Silver Scholarship FundThrough the leadership of theatres and individual donors to the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund, students between the ages of 14 and 18 receive financial support to attend Theatre Ontario's youth courses. Scholarship funds make it possible for students to meet inspired youth and active theatre players from all over the province. Students can apply for a Judy Silver Scholarship when registering for Theatre Ontario's Youth Summer Courses held in August each year at Brock University. About Judy Silver and the Scholarship FundJudy Silver wore many hats -- actor, writer, director, comedienne, teacher, mentor and friend. An exceptional person with extraordinary talent, Judy's work always demonstrated her deep respect and passion for the theatre. Her greatest pleasure and reward however, came out of working with young people. Possessing the rare gift to motivate and inspire young actors, Judy communicated and shared her love of the stage to her students as she transformed them into young professional theatre artists. Created in 1998, the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Judy Silver by her friends and colleagues in order to support young people who wish to attend the Theatre Ontario Youth Summer Courses. In every class that Judy taught, there was always at least one deserving scholar who, not being able to afford the tuition, was invited to "come anyway." Following her example, this scholarship hopes to help as many young people as possible who want to attend the Summer Courses but are unable to do so because of financial restrictions.
